The Council currently provides public car parking at Lidl car park, Andover, through an agreement with Lidl, the landowner. Lidl has terminated the agreement with effect from 31 January 2016.
The Council’s payment machines and signage will be removed from the car park on Monday, 1 February.
Lidl has informed the Council that it will be installing automated number plate recognition cameras to enforce parking restrictions. The company will also be reducing the maximum permitted parking stay from two hours to 90 minutes. In order to introduce this, Lidl is required to ensure that the car park has appropriate signs prior to implementing the changes.
The newly opened West Street car park at the Andover Magistrates’ Court offers alternative pay and display parking nearby.
