Staff from Andover Leisure Centre swapped their uniforms and tracksuits for festive sweaters on Friday to support the Save the Children’s Christmas jumper fundraiser.
The fitness teams sported woolies and knits featuring everything from cool snowmen to ruby-nosed reindeer, and almost every cute Christmas character in between.
“We got involved because we like to promote community spirit and raise money for charity. But, for me, it was educational too. I had no idea there were so many different Christmas jumpers out there,” said Valley Leisure chief executive, Kevin Paterson, who wore a navy jumper with reindeer picture trim to fit the occasion.
“It’s a great initiative because it not only brings in charity money but spreads a little Christmas cheer too,” said Kevin.
Valley Leisure raised around £110 for the good cause through donations from staff and promoted the Save the Children fundraising line through its various Twitter and Facebook pages.
Overall the initiative has raised almost £600,000 nationwide so far.
