Lots of houses in Andover are treating local residents to displays of Christmas Lights outside – June and Fred Baker are doing it differently.
Tucked away at 15 Harrow Way in Andover is an indoor festive display. A musical grotto to delight the young – and not so young.
The display took 3 weeks to set up with the centre piece being the Christmas Tree bought for £175 from John Lewis 27 years ago.
“It seemed expensive at the time but we’ve certainly had our money’s worth from it” said June.
“The decorations have mainly been bought locally over the years although some have been brought over from the USA” she added.
The couple started showing the display back in 1998 collecting money for a charity each year and already have several families booked in to see it.
“It’s lovely to see the children’s faces” said June. “It makes it all so worthwhile“.
This year June and Fred are collecting for Veterans in Action (VIA), a local charity based at Redenham Park who are helping ex-forces personnel cope with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
To see June and Fred’s display, you can turn up any day of the week except Wednesday afternoon at 15 Harrow Way in Andover until Tuesday 6th January.
