Hampshire County Council’s Cllr Sean Woodward has confirmed the go-ahead of the licensing of A-Boards in Andover.
After yesterday’s news, there was a final meeting today to agree the report (click here).
Executive Member for Economy, Transport and Environment Cllr Woodward said “The report explains the route I am considering. I would emphasise that the fact there were 46 A-boards displayed illegally, reduced by 9 with the first letter and by 42 with the second leaving just 4 to collect, does not mean that 46 or any other number will be permitted by licensing as they will be placed subject to a number of factors including pedestrian safety.”
“Also unlicensed boards will be treated as unauthorised and ultimately removed unless they become licensed. The traders will need to have insurance in place for the boards also.”
“I believe this approach, which will be self-financing, could represent a good balance between the needs of the traders and the safety of pedestrians.”
