Andover is set to host three free training sessions designed to help small businesses develop their web and social media skills and boost trade.
All the Digital High Street Skills programme training sessions will take place at Andover Guildhall from 4pm to 8pm, and the first, set to take place today (21 January), is already fully subscribed. However, there are still places available for the second session on 11 February and the third session on 11 March.
The training is being funded by the government and run locally by the Enterprise M3 Local Enterprise Partnership (EM3 LEP), Test Valley Borough Council and the Association of Town and City Management.
From developing a website to using online marketing and social media, the Digital High Street Skills programme will give small businesses the confidence and tools they need to benefit from the rapid growth of e-tailing and ultimately increase their bottom line.
The three sessions will each focus on different areas, so attendees can choose to go to all three, or pick one or two of their choice. Details of the topics to be covered at each session can be found on the Test Valley Borough Council website.
Test Valley Borough Council’s economic portfolio holder, Councillor Peter Giddings, said: “We are incredibly proud to be the first of 14 local authorities across the EM3 LEP area to host the Digital High Street Skills programme. The programme aims to highlight how business owners can use the internet and social media to their advantage.”
“The Council has been working hard over recent years to support Andover town centre and its businesses and this programme is an excellent practical initiative.”
“The digital world offers a fantastic platform to promote businesses and increase customers. The internet and social media can prove powerful tools but many business owners aren’t sure how to make the most of them. This programme aims to show people just that.”
“I hope local businesses make the most of this great opportunity and sign up to these free training modules.”
Any businesses interested in signing up to the February and March modules are asked to contact Test Valley Borough Council’s economic development officer, David Gleave, on 01264 368309 or email email@example.com
