The 2014 European Parliamentary Election will be held across Europe from 22 – 25 May 2014 with the UK Polling Day being Thursday 22 May 2014 and Polling Stations open from 7:00am till 10:00pm.
MEPs are elected under a proportional representation system (d.Hondt). In the UK you have one vote to elect all of your MEPs. Each party puts forward a list of candidates called a ‘regional list’ and you vote for one of these lists or for an independent candidate.
The parties are then allocated a number of MEPs according to their share of the vote.
Test Valley is part of the South East Region and the result of the poll held in the Test Valley area will be sent to the Regional Returning Officer in Southampton to be added to the results from the 66 other authorities in order to produce an overall result for the South East Region.

There are no candidates standing from Andover.
There are polling stations throughout the town and surrounding villages. These will be open from 7.00am till 10.00pm on Thursday 22nd May 2014.
