A group of volunteers from Lloyds Banking Group helped to give the gardens at the Countess of Brecknock Hospice a much-needed freshen up.
A total of seven staff members from across the group travelled to the hospice, at Andover War Memorial Hospital, to carry out end-of-season gardening and clearing in preparation for the annual Light up a Life ceremony, which will take place from 4pm on Sunday 13 December.
The Lloyds staff helped Jim Hanson, the regular gardening volunteer, to plant winter flowers, remove bushes and prune hedges. They received additional support from Andover Garden Centre, who donated two sets of garden forks and spades.
Beccy McCoy, one of the volunteers from Lloyds Banking Group, said: “All in all, it was excellent day, despite a few aches and pains felt for the rest of the week.”
“We were working in quite a busy thoroughfare and everyone that walked past commented on how much better things were looking and thanked us for our help.”
