Challengers Andover youth scheme has an exhilarating summer holidays coming up and they are looking for young people to come and join in the fun.
According to research by Contact A family, a staggering 86% of disabled young people do not have regular access to leisure time. Socialising is a crucial part of any young person’s development and is something that needs to become accessible for everyone, this is where Challengers comes in, making a difference to families lives in communities like Andover.
The youth scheme runs from The Sports Academy, for ages 13-18, and has some fantastic activities on offer such as, learning some tricks at a martial arts day, taking a walk on the wild side at Marwell zoo, and having a delicious picnic at Charlton Lakes.
Challengers are an independent charity, with their HQ based in Guildford, providing play and leisure opportunities for disabled children & young people between the ages of 2-25. They say they are unique as every child is welcome to come and play no matter the severity of impairment and strive to provide an environment for young people that is their own, a space that is relaxing, supportive and above all else, fun!
The schemes also provide parents with short breaks which families say is crucial to them leading normal lives. One parent said “Challengers for us is a godsend, it is a safe, happy place for me to leave one of the most precious things in my life for a few hours, worry free, to look after the other precious things in my life.”
This is why Challengers is so important and want more people to come and visit their schemes like Andover.
Challengers love to support children, young people and families, so if anyone is interested in joining all the fun at the Andover youth scheme, please get in touch with the Operations Team on 01483 230930 or email email@example.com.
