A bank may not be the obvious place to train for a Lands End to John O’Groats bike ride but that’s what Alec from Lloyds Bank is doing today (Tuesday 17th June) in their Andover High Street branch.
Together with colleague Jason, they will be part of a 25 strong Lloyds Bank team completing the 969 mile journey over 9 days next month.
“There will be no comfy hotels to sleep in.” said Alec “We’ll be sleeping in tents for the trip“.
“We want to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society, Lloyds Bank charity of the year. We are aiming to raise £7,800 minimum between us and would love any help we can get. The ride in the branch today has already had people donating” he added, still pedalling.
The money raised is going to be used to help launch “Live Well“, the Alzheimer’s Society’s first UK-wide dementia carers programme. This pioneering campaign will provide life-changing support for people living with dementia, their families and carers.
The branch will also be running a number of charity events including dress down days, cake sales, raffles and even leg waxing!
“We’d love it if people could donate through the events at the branch or by donating raffle prizes. We also have a Just Giving site set up at www.justgiving.com/Alec-Jason“.
Alec is on his bike in the branch till later this afternoon if you want to donate and / or have a chat about the ride.
