The Hawk Conservancy Trust is inviting you to put your best foot forward and help to raise funds to care for sick and injured birds of prey.
On the 4th July 2015 the Trust will be holding its 2nd “Hike for Hawks” sponsored walk, covering either a 5 or 10 mile route around the local countryside adjacent to the Trust.
The first event held in 2013 saw 120 walkers raise over £20,000 for the Trust. This year the Trust are looking for 173 walkers , why 173? That’s the number of birds that were brought into their National Bird of Prey hospital in 2014. Therefore each walker will be raising funds on behalf of one of those birds.
There is no entry fee, and the Trust just asks if walkers can raise sponsorship, again no minimum just however much their friends and families can afford.
Ashley Smith , Trust Executive Life President , said “The event in 2013 was a fantastic day, everyone was in such good spirits the weather was great and the fact that people were raising funds for injured birds seemed to put a spring in everyone’s step.”
The course is a gentle stroll in the country mainly on footpaths and quite country lanes, and the walk is open to everyone. Children are welcome if accompanied by an adult and well behaved dogs on leads are welcomed. There will be toilets and a refreshment point at the halfway point.
