March is proving to be a busy month for Andover writer and playwright Sophie Porter. As the deputy editor of the Female Arts magazine is to co-host a WOW (Women of the World) party at Southbank centre on Wednesday 5th March.
The evening before sees Sophie at Etcetera Theatre in Camden for a theatrical performance of “The Monotonous Drum“.
About Female Arts
Launched in 2011, Female Arts online magazine focuses on women in the arts as a response to gender inequality – only 17% of playwrights, 23% of directors and 35% of actors are women. (Source: Sphinx Theatre).
Run by Editors Wendy Thomson and Sophie Porter who met at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama the magazine promotes women in performing, visual and literary arts.
Female Arts UK wide review team attend productions focusing on female creatives including theatre, exhibitions, film, literature, dance, books, TV, comedy and music. We publish daily information about upcoming shows, interview inspirational women and feature companies and events.
Female Arts at WOW
The Female Arts WOW party is a co-production with GAP(Gender and Performance) Salon and So and So Arts club which will incorporate a 90 minute showcase of female driven stories and performances.
Chosen by WOW with ten other organisations / charities the parties are private events but the public are welcome to attend a free celebration of their achievements at the Clore Ballroom, Royal Festival Hall,Southbank Centre from 6pm – 7.30pm on Wednesday 5thMarch 2014.
Female Arts are running an information stall on Friday 7th March from 10am – 6pm in the WOW marketplace, Southbank centre please come and see us to find out more!
