New Andover Town Chairman, Councillor Katherine Bird has pledged to help Andover fulfil its potential by making sure that the Councillors listen to the public, and take forward appropriate ideas.
She is clear that there needs to be an inclusive Town Council, which is developing strategic partnerships.
Councillor Bird has been a member of Andover Town Council since its inception in 2010. She takes over the role from Councillor Veronika Pond, who was praised for ‘all of the hard work you have put in to the role of Chairman over the last year.
“You have been a steady hand throughout a time of change and upheaval, for which I think we are all grateful.”
The vote of thanks for Councillor Pond went on to say ‘Thank you for cheerfulness throughout everything, for the good humour (including a leaf-covered walking stick during the scarecrow judging), for being a figurehead and for bringing new ideas to the Council. I hope that you have enjoyed your time in the Chair, and that the seeds sown over the last year will grow and flower.’
The Council chose Councillor Len Gates to take on the role of Vice Chairman.
Councillor Bird will chair her first full Council meeting on 23rd June in the Rendezvous, Union Street, Andover.
