Andover Railway Station car park is set to close for 20 weeks from October to allow for work to expand the parking to around a further 200 vehicles.
In addition to the extra parking spaces, there will also be improved security with an increased number of CCTV cameras and a customer help point. South West Trains are in the process of carrying out an extensive communications campaign to make people aware of the changes.
A South West Trains spokesperson said: “Over the next two years, we will be investing £50 million on customer improvements across our network. As part of this investment, a number of new decked car parks will be opened at key stations.”
“Work on a new decked car park will start at Andover in October, and once complete, will offer passengers a new, two-level decked car park with around 200 additional spaces. The new car park will also offer improved security with an increased number of CCTV cameras and it will also have a customer help point.”
“Whilst work is taking place to create this new car park, the existing car park facility will need to be closed. We apologise to customers for the temporary inconvenience this will cause. Alternative car parking is available in the town centre, which is a walkable distance from the station.”
