Andover appeared on the TV again tonight (Sunday 5th January) as part of “Agatha Christie’s Poirot” shown on ITV3 as a woman is found murdered in a newsagent’s.
As part of the “ABC Murders” episode, a Mrs Alice Ascher is found murdered in Andover with an ABC Rail Guide placed near to her, and Poirot finds himself starting on a manhunt through the alphabet.
Despite the many mentions of the town, it appears that “Andover” is actually a set at Twickenham Film Studio and on Windsor Street in Uxbridge. The shot of Poirot and Hastings walking to the platform at the “Andover Junction” station shows the subway as not the same as the current station.
To watch the episode again (with Andover mentioned within the first few minutes) go to the ITV3 website. This was first aired on the 5th January 1992 – exactly 22 years ago.
