Andover chauffeur driver Christopher Jackson, owner of “Let Me Drive YOU“, had a date with successful shopkeeper and former Dragon on BBC TV Dragons’ Den in Birmingham over the weekend.
The event was part of “Small Business Sunday“, created by Theo Paphitis in October 2010. Each week, Theo rewards small businesses that tweet him @TheoPaphitis and describe their businesses in one tweet including the all-important hashtag #SBS.
Chris met with other small business owners to network and all were treated to a special Question Time with Theo and a panel of other entrepreneurs including Rob Forkan.
Rob was one of the brothers that founded Gandy’s Flip Flops following the Boxing Day tsunami of 2004 and the loss of their parents – Kevin and Sandra Forkan. The terrible tragedy however has led to a big success story and creation of a foundation and the “Orphans for Orphans” initiative.
“All the panellists stories were very inspiring” said Chris. “We then had a few hours of questions and Theo reinforced the fact that if you graft you get lucky; there are no short cuts to be successful.”
He also met with the Robert Dyas and lingerie shop Boux Avenue – two shops that he hoped would decide on coming to Andover in the future!
Chris also hopes to team up with them and many others to bring to his clients a loyalty card scheme.
“My customers mean everything to me and being able to reward them in some way is what I hope to do in the future.”
Chris was also thrilled to meet Theo’s chauffeur driver.
“It was the end to a perfect day to meet someone that knows what it’s like to drive clients around!” said Chris.
