It was standing room only at the White Hart in Andover as the Prince, Princess and Attendants were selected for this year’s Andover Carnival to be held on 19th July.
The event got underway with Andover Carnival’s Iris Andersen explaining what the positions were about and what expected of not only the candidates but the parents as well, before last year’s Princess and her Attendants told everyone what they had been up to from their first event opening Lone Fairy and Travelling Cupcake and how much they enjoyed it.
“Whoever gets to do Prince and Princess this year will be very very lucky” said outgoing Princess, Aimee Coombs.
Each of the candidates was then quizzed by Iris before scrutineering by the panel of four judges: Andrea (Andover Women in Business), Helen (Phil Evans Photography), Debbie (Simplyhealth) and Christine (David Mellor Jewellers).
The nine girls and four boys were quizzed on a range of subjects including about their pets, their favourite pop groups and their favourite lessons at school – art and maths came as the two popular choices.
Finally it was decision time and the judges went away to add up their scores before announcing the children chosen for this year who are:
- Prince: Corey Brooker
- Princess: Paris York
- Attendants: Tia Heaton and Tilly Pritchett
This year’s carnival is being held on Sunday 19th July at the Vigo Road Recreation Park and the committee are looking for more volunteers to help with this great event. To find out more, see the website at www.andovercarnival.org or see the Facebook page at www.facebook.com/AndoverCarnival.
