Andover Bus Station finally opened today with a new Sunday service on the Star 1 bus offering free travel for the next 2 weeks.
From today (Sunday 13th July) the Star 1 buses will run half hourly from 9.30am to 5.30pm on Sundays and will be free to travel on from 13th July to 27th July (inclusive).
On Sundays the bus station itself will be open from 10.00am to 4.00pm with a member of staff available at all times.
Operations Manager for Stagecoach Pete Robinson said they were very proud of the new building and looked forward to seeing it busy with bus travellers. The first bus was reported to be very well used, starting from the Bus Depot before picking up passengers on King Arthurs Way.
It now hosts 10 departure stands and a covered passenger lounge with seating and electronic passenger information departure display.
A special mention must go to Andover Town Councillor Barbara Carpenter who was the major voice in getting the Sunday service started.
