The new Carnival Royals for 2014 have been crowned today when Andover’s Carnival Prince and Princess were chosen.
Ten girls and three boys were shortlisted finalists and each took their turn in the limelight at the White Hart Hotel on Bridge Street to persuade four judges, Carnival Patron Iris Andersen, our generous host from the White Hart Hotel, Gail Morris, the Andover Advertiser’s Joe Faretra and independent seamstress Ann Roberts why they should become Andover Carnival’s Prince or Princess.
After a great deal of deliberation, while talented young singers Chris Berntsen and Stephanie Boulton entertained the competitors and their parents, the new Royals for 2014 were eventually chosen. Aimee Coombs, and Lewis Blackwell, were both delighted to be crowned as the new Andover Carnival Royalty for 2014. Melissa Mae Oril and Romilly O’Neil, were chosen to be the Princess’s attendants and are looking forward to assisting the new Royals with their many duties.
The Andover Carnival Royals will have pride of place on their very own float in the Carnival Parade on Sunday 20th July and will be busy all year with a host of other town events and have already been invited to open the Fairground Country Fair at Weyhill on the 10th May.
The Prince and Princess will each receive £75 and a family portrait as their prize, while the two attendants will receive a cheque for £25 courtesy of the Andover Advertiser.
